I salute the Branch Chairman, the Branch Officers, the Chairman and members of the Law Week Planning Committee and all members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ondo Branch as it holds its maiden Law Week, themed “Insecurity and Corruption As A Challenge To Nigeria’s Democracy: The Role of Law In Securing The Nation”, from 26th to 29th of June, 2022.
I hold very strongly to my view that for Democracy to strive, the rule of law must be adhered to. I am also unshaken in my conviction that the Law must prevail at all times for ethos of Democracy to be deepened in our society. However, the major challenges to Democracy and adherence to Rule of Law are indiscipline, impunity and insincerity of the stakeholders and even the citizens.
I am happy to have been part of the very successful and impactful session moderated by my Lord Justice Habeeb A. O Abiru JCA and the powerful presentations, especially those of the Keynote Speaker, the incorruptible and social activism compliant jurist, my Lord Justice Helen M. Ogunwumiju JSC, and the indomitable and ever cerebral Senior Advocate Mr. Femi Falana SAN.
I heartily congratulate the Branch Chairman, Thompson Akinyemi Esq and his Exco and the very hardworking Law Week Planning Committee Chairman Omooba Kunle Adetowubo, his committee members and entire members of the NBA Ondo Branch for the most successful maiden Law Week.
