NBA Secretariat Achieves Major Digitization Milestone, Secures N20 Million Donation
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has marked a significant milestone in its ongoing digitization efforts with the collaborated efforts of the General Secretary, Mr. Adesina Adegbite. During the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on August 28, 2024, Mr. Adegbite presented a detailed report highlighting the successful implementation of several digital initiatives aimed at modernizing the association’s operations.
Foremost among these achievements is the launch of the NBA Digital Stamp, a groundbreaking innovation that combines artificial intelligence (AI) with blockchain technology. This Digital Stamp, the first of its kind in Africa, is designed to enhance the security and efficiency of legal document preparation and verification. Mr. Adegbite emphasized that the Digital Stamp is not only available but also highly affordable, with each stamp priced at just N50. This initiative is expected to revolutionize the way legal practitioners handle document authentication across the country.
In addition to the Digital Stamp, Mr. Adegbite announced the launch of the NBA’s fully functional website, a critical component of the digitization agenda. The website, which was previously under the control of a third party, has now been fully reclaimed by the NBA and revamped to better serve its members. The new platform allows for seamless payment of practicing fees and other essential services, reducing the need for third-party involvement and enhancing data security.
The digitization efforts received a significant boost with the announcement of a N20 million donation from Mr. Adewale Adebayo, a prominent legal practitioner and philanthropist. Mr. Adegbite acknowledged this generous contribution, noting that it would go a long way in supporting the ongoing modernization of the NBA Secretariat. The funds are expected to be utilized in further enhancing the digital infrastructure of the association, ensuring that the NBA remains at the forefront of technological advancement in the legal profession.
