Ondo Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has extended the enforcement of compulsory installation of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) devices in all public places in the state to September 1, 2022.
The State Government earlier set August 1st as deadline for churches, mosques, schools and public places to install CCTV within their premises.
Checks showed that CCTV was yet to be installed in many state government owned schools and public buildings.
Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Chief Dele Akinlana, said proposals have been received from various contractors for installation of CCTV in primary and Junior Secondary schools.
He said the cost of installing the CCTV was yet to be determined.
“We have received a number of proposals. The Chairman said we should invite those who submit the proposals for interview. We want to look at the various proposals before us. We will see what we can do to beat the August 1st deadline.”
Many churches also failed to meet the deadline.

Spokesman for Ondo Catholic Diocese, Rev. Fr. Austine Ikwu, said the church had held seminar on the use of CCTV.
Fr. Ikwu said all Catholic churches in the state have been directed to install CCTV within their premises.
A statement by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Akeredolu, Olatunde Richard, explained that the extension was sequel to appeals from churches, mosques and other public centres to enable them put in place necessary measures as contained in the State Executive Order.
Ondo Amotekun Commander, Akogun Adetunji, said there was 60 percent compliance with the directive.
