Atiku on a fishing expedition in Chicago: Tinubu [Court filing details]

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has told a district court in Chicago that Atiku Abubakar, the defeated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party is merely on a fishing expedition in demanding his academic records from Chicago State University.

Tinubu said this in his reply filed last night to Atiku’s response to Tinubu’e emergency motion asking the district court of Judge Nancy Maldonado to cancel the order by magistrate judge Jeffery Gilbert asking CSU to release his records to Atiku.

Tinubu, in his response argued that Magistrate judge Gilbert, who gave the order on September 19 in a ruling on an application by Atiku, exercised the power he did not have under Section 1782 of the US Statute.

He asked the court to reject Atiku’s application for discovery about his academic records.

He argued that Atiku was merely on a fishing expedition because the documents he is seeking from the CSU can no longer be admitted at the current state of the appeal he filed at the Supreme Court because the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) had deemed them inadmissible.

Tinubu’s response was signed on his behalf by Oluwole Afolabi, whose law office is based in Staten Island, New York.
