Following the recent sad losse of Dr.(Mrs.) Hauwa Shekarau, Chairman of NBA Abuja Branch, late Mr. Ben Nwachukwu, Publicity Secretary of NBA Orlu Branch, in an interview made available to Legal Nigeria, Learned Silk Y.C Maikyau expressed his grief thus;
I received with concern and deep sense of grief; the recent news that awash the print and electronic media of the passing-on of some of our colleagues, and Bar Leaders which includes but not limited to: the late Dr.(Mrs.) Hauwa Shekarau of NBA Abuja Branch, late Mr. Ben Nwachukwu who was the Chairman of NBA Isialangwa Branch and late Mr. C. D. Omekagu who was the Publicity Secretary of NBA Orlu Branch.
These are certainly grave losses and a challenging moment especially, for the Nigerian Bar Association given their invaluable inputs so far and the long interactive years shared with these heroes.
I must at this period; encourage the entire members of NBA as a whole and the families of the deceased persons, to take solace in the fact that these great Lawyers have led a pious lifestyle of selfless service to the Bar and humanity in general and have bequeathed credible legacies worthy of emulation.
In this regard, I hereby extends my condolences to the families of the deceased persons and the entire members of NBA over these losses and I pray that the Almighty God shall continue to strengthen you all and grant the entire members of NBA the grace and fortitude to bear these irreparable losses as we grapple with the reality of the events.
