A London High Court of Justice, Queen’s Bench Division, yesterday ordered a United Kingdom (UK)-based blogger, Maureen Badejo, to – within 72 hours – publish a summary its judgment which punished her for libel.
The judge, Mrs Justice Tipples, ordered Badejo to publish the summary on all social media accounts under her control.
Badejo committed the libel against the General Overseer of the Mountain Of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) International, Dr Daniel Olukoya and his wife Folashade.
Mrs Justice Tipples, in an October 22, 2021 judgment awarded £100,000, as damages against her. The sum comprises £65,000 to Pastor Olukoya and £35,000 to his wife.
In another ruling on the matter yesterday, the judge noted that Badejo had yet to comply with its order directing her to publish the summary of the judgment.
She said since the parties had agreed on the wording of the summary, she was required to publish it, or risk contempt of court.
Mrs Justice Tipples held: “Upon the defendant informing the court at the hearing on 22 October 2021 that all the social media accounts identified in paragraph 2 of this Order are under her control…
“It is ordered that: The defendant shall by 10am on Thursday 4 November 2021 publish a summary of the judgment…”
