To ensure full voter participation in the upcoming council elections, the Cross River State Government has declared Thursday and Friday as public holidays.
This announcement, made by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Nsa Gill, aims to facilitate the movement of voters traveling from Calabar to various locations across the state.
The two-day holiday, set before the elections scheduled for Saturday, November 1, is intended to provide residents with ample time to prepare and participate in the electoral process.
In a statement released to newsmen on Wednesday, Gill emphasized the importance of civic engagement, urging all eligible voters to take advantage of this opportunity to make their voices heard.
“The decision to declare these days as public holidays is in recognition of the need for citizens to exercise their right to vote without any hindrances,” Gill stated.
He encouraged residents to actively engage in the electoral process and contribute to shaping the governance of their local councils.
