#EndSARS memorial: There are no buses at Oriental again – Mr Macaroni

Nigerian comedian, Mr. Macaroni, has alerted his followers on the ongoing peaceful walk to commemorate the tragic events that unfolded during the 2020 #EndSars protest at the Lekki Toll Gate.

Mr Macaroni posted on his ‘X’ handle. In his words, “There are no buses at Oriental again so no one needs to gather around the bus stop. Please join the walk from anywhere you can. And if you can’t, just say a word of prayer for all those who have lost their lives to police brutality. Again, this is a peaceful walk to honor all…”

He posted also yesterday, “Three years now! We will never forget! #EndSars! We will walk peacefully to honor all those who lost their lives on 20/10/2020! We also walk for all those who have lost their lives due to police brutality in Nigeria! We walk in peace! We will never forget!”

Recall that during the 2020 #EndSars demonstrations in Lagos, a sizable gathering at the Lekki Toll Gate brought pedestrian and vehicular traffic to a halt for many days. The protest later spread to other parts of Lagos and Nigeria.

Protesters and many others said lives were lost on October 20 when soldiers were deployed to Lekki toll gate to disperse the crowd after the protest turned violent in many parts of the city and across Nigeria and the government had to declare curfew ro rein in the violence.

Subsequently, October 20th has been designated to remember individuals who allegedly lost their lives during the Lekki Toll Gate #EndSars protests on October 20, 2020
