Mr Babachir Lawal, the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has declared support for the second term ambition of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 11 governorship election.
Lawal, who supported Peter Obi, the candidate of Labour Party in the February 25 presidential election said this in a statement he issued in Yola on Sunday.
He said Fintiri deserves second term.
This is contained in a statement issued by Lawal on Monday in Yola.
Lawal urged the electorate to vote peacefully in the March 11 Governorship and State Assembly elections.
“Many people have been urging me to provide guidance as to my preferred candidate for governor in Adamawa for the next four years.
“It is with this in mind that I urge all the citizens of Adamawa to come out massively and cast their votes for a second term for Gov. Fintiri, because he deserves this,” he said.
He also called on the citizens to ensure that their votes are counted before they leave the polling centres.
Lawal wished citizens a safe, violence-free and successful outing on March 11.
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of Labour Party in the State, Engr Umar Mustapha, had also on Sunday announced that he is abandoning his ambition in favour of his counterpart in All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aishatu Binani.
Umar Mustapha, better simply known as Otumba, sad this at a press briefing in Yola Sunday evening.
He said following challenges he had been contending with in the course of seeking to be governor, he decided to put the ambition on hold and to fully support the governorship ambition of Binani.
