It has been tears and anguish for family a businessman identified as Akuma Kalu, who was crushed to death by a 40-feet container that fell on his car along the failed portion of Etche-Ngokpala road in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers state two days ago.
It was learnt that Kalu met his untimely death when his car got stuck at failed portion of the road while on his way to the Port Harcourt International Airport to catch a flight.
According to eyewitnesses accounts, co-travelers and commuters who immediately rushed to the scene of the accident tried to rescue Kalu who was alone in the ill-fated vehicle, but all their efforts were in vain.
Eyewitness said the late Akuma Kalu was frantically struggling to get out of the bad portion where his vehicle was stuck when the 40 -feet container on top of a long truck also struggling to meander through the road fell off and landed on his car, crushing him to death.
The late Kalu is said to hail from Abariba in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia Atate.
Before his death, he was into importation business based in Umuogele Ovom and a member of the Umuogele Landlords Association in the commercial city of Aba.
Mourners, family members and friends have taken to the social media to lament the tragic death of the businessman.
It will be recalled residents and road users in Etche local government area plying the road have been lamenting the deplorable state of the road described as death trap
