FIDA LAGOS BRANCH ISSUES OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT ON HER 2022 ANNUAL LAW WEEK STATING SCHEDULE OF EVENT

THE INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF WOMEN LAWYERS [FIDA], LAGOS BRANCH – 2022 ANNUAL LAW WEEK

OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT

The International Federation of Women Lawyers [FIDA] Lagos Branch, 2022 Annual Law Week, the Female Lawyers will converge at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs [N.I.IA], Victoria-Island, Lagos on Tuesday the 14th day of June, 2022 for the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIDA [LAGOS] Annual Law-Week.

The Opening Ceremony will be chaired by the Learned Silk, Mr. Tunde Busari, SAN, FCIArb After this will be discussions on the theme “EDUCATION as a catalyst for boosting the self-image of the African Child”.

The Chairman of the Law Week Planning Committee, Mrs. Abiola Laseinde assured members of the public that though the Law Week will be partly hybrid, being physical on Day [1] and Virtual on Day [2] it promises to be a memorable experience for attendees who are guaranteed mentally stimulating, insightful and fun-filled technical sessions.

The annual program is held in commemoration of the United Nations 2022 International Day of the African Child and it offers us a great opportunity to continue with our campaigns and various activities to improve the literacy, health, and economic well-being of women and children in Nigeria.

Announcing the schedule of activities, the Chairperson, Law Week Committee, Mrs. Abiola Laseinde, assured members of an activity-packed week. Stating that, there will be interactive sessions on the first two days commencing the Law Week, charity visitations on the third day and for the grand finale, which will be an exclusive imperial dinner on the last day that will afford members and interested parties the opportunity to experience the Full-on social scene of Fidans.

The Law Week Committee revealed that the two-day Law Week will have in attendance key stakeholders and distinguished personalities. The first session will hold on Tuesday 14th, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs [N.I.I.A], whilst a capacity building session will be held virtually on Wednesday, 15th June, 2022. The capacity building program will cover topics such as: “The Future-Fit Female Professional”, “Create & Strengthen Your Personal Brand”, “Bitter-Sweet Experience of being a Female Lawyer” and the 21st Century Transformational Leader”.

Mrs. Laseinde, revealed the array of confirmed speakers to do justice to the theme and various sub- topics to be discussed at the Law Week. The Keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose, SAN; [Chairperson NBA – Women Forum], Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan.

Other confirmed speakers are – Dr. Foluke DADA [Immediate past 2nd Vice President, NBA National, Mr. Mayowa OWOLABI [Chairman Continuing Legal Education Committee, NBA Lagos Branch], Mrs. Ifeyinwa AWAGU. Director, Pan-Atlantic University. Mrs. Joy C. Ezeigbo, FIDA Regional Vice President.

The rest are Mrs. Toyin SANNI, Group CEO, Emerging Capital Africa, Mrs. Onyinye IKENNA-EMEKA, General Manager, MTN, Mrs. Mfon USORO, Managing Partner, PUC and Mrs. Yinka OGUNDE, CEO of EDUMARK. With these arrays of speakers, we expect nothing less than the best, Mrs. Lasinde noted.

Below is the schedule of event for the Law Week:

Day 1:

  • Tuesday, 14th June 2022 – Opening Ceremony and Keynote Lecture:

            “EDUCATION as a catalyst for boosting the self-image of the African Child”.

  • Venue: The Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, Lagos 
  • Time: 10am

Day 2:

  • Wednesday, 15th June 2022 – Capacity Building Program for Professional Development of the Female Lawyers [Professional Development Presentations]
  • Time: 11am [Virtual]

Day 3:

  • Thursday, 16th June 2022 – Charity Visitations

            i.                  Visit to FIDA Children’s Ward E4, LUTH, Idi-Araba

            ii.                 Visit to FIDA Lagos adopted school at Makoko, Yaba

            iii.                Visit to the Pacelli School for the Blind, Surulere

Day 4:

  • Saturday, 18th June 2022 – FIDA [Lagos] Exclusive Law Week Banquet Dinner, themed ‘the Red Banquet’ & Presentation of scholarships to some female indigent pupils.
  • Venue: The Collosus Hotel, Behind Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja
  • Red Carpet: 5pm

 ‘The Red Banquet’ themed dinner will be Chaired by no other, than the very perfect gentleman, Y.C Mikyau, SAN who has promised to grace the occasion in his Red Tie.
