The Gombe State Government on Monday presented 380 bags of 25kg rice, 380 bags of 50kg sorghum, and 240 cartons of spaghetti to security agencies in the state, our correspondent has gathered.
Confirming this on Tuesday, the Information Officer from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the State, Joshua Danmalam, said that Governor Muhammadu Yahaya was represented at the symbolic presentation of items by the Executive Secretary, Haruna Abdullahi.
He stated that the governor had approved the extension of the food item distribution to security agencies in the state to bring relief to the officers and their families, adding that it would provide support to the security personnel during these difficult times.
Danmalam noted that the distribution is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to provide food items to citizens to alleviate the hardships currently being experienced in the country.
He said, “The state government had previously distributed assorted food items across the 11 Local Government Areas through their respective chairmen. These items were supplied by the Federal Government to the states, as well as consignments from the North-East Development Commission to the North-East states, all to mitigate the devastating effects of food shortages in the country.”
“Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s administration has consistently distributed palliatives to the vulnerable, religious groups, and civil society organisations over time.
He assured us that more distributions are planned going forward, and charged the leadership of the security agencies to ensure equity in the distribution of the commodities to their personnel.”
The security personnel expressed their appreciation for Yahaya’s gesture and assured the government of the judicious distribution of the food items.
