At the just concluded Manifesto Day and Presidential Debate held on the 7th of July, 2022 at the Auditorium of NBA House, FCT, Abuja. Yakubu Saleh Bawa, the immediate past Chairman of NBA, Jos Branch and a onetime Vice Chairman of the same branch passionately presented his Manifesto to Lawyers at the hybrid event.
He began his Manifesto stating that what is fundamental in every generation is to understand time and season. He said his philosophy as a Lawyer is not money driven but passion for the society. He added that Nigerians are counting on the NBA concerning issues of Fundamental Human Right, stating that the only professional body that would salvage Nigeria is the NBA. He said, the basic role of the 1st Vice president of the NBA is to understand the vision of the NBA President, to give him support, be a good team player and make him succeed.
He added “I am more concerned about Fundamental Human Right, I am more concerned about the rights of women” He assured colleagues of his competence and capacity to hold the office of First Vice President of Nigerian Bar Association. He stated that his core attribute is that of speaking truth to power. He added that during the JUSUN strike propelled by the issue of Judicial Financial Autonomy, he was the first NBA chairman to organize a protest in collaboration with JUSUN. He passionately added that the brutalization and harassment of lawyers would not be tolerated under his watch when voted in as 1st Vice President of the NBA.
He concluded his manifesto stating that, come 16th of July, 2022, lawyers should endeavour to vote him – Yakubu Saleh Bawa for the position of NBA 1st vice President to assist the NBA president actualize his enormous responsibilities.
