Mr. Seyi Olawumi, Chairman of NBA Ikeja Branch, joins other NBA Branch Chairmen in Lagos State for the inaugural monthly meeting between the Bar and the Police. The inaugural meeting which was held on Thursday, the 14th of March, 2024 at the Police Command, also had in attendance the Commissioner of Police and other high ranking officers of the Police force in Lagos State.

Assault Investigation Oversight: The investigation into the regrettable assault incident involving Olumide Sonupe has now transitioned under the purview of the newly appointed DCP of State CID Panti, Dr. Ahmed Lateef, who scheduled a crucial meeting on Wednesday, 20th March, 2024, involving two NBA representatives and the victim.
2. Nomination of Representatives: With a collective resolve, the Chairmen of NBA Branches in Lagos State have nominated their counterparts from Ikeja and Ikorodu to participate in the forthcoming meeting with DCP State CID Panti.
3. Persistent Police Probe: Led by the Commissioner of Police, the ongoing investigation continues its quest to identify the officers involved in the unfortunate assault against our esteemed colleague within the precincts of the Lagos State Police Command.
4. Inauguration of Lagos State Police-Lawyers Relations Committee: A significant milestone was achieved with the formal inauguration of the Lagos State Police-Lawyers Relations Committee, spearheaded by the Commissioner of Police. Each NBA branch in Lagos State will be duly represented on this committee, with NBA Lagos Branch appointing Chairman Olabisi Makanjuola and Vice Chairman Esther Jimoh.
5. Operational Framework: The committee is set to convene on both a monthly and quarterly basis, establishing a robust mechanism for addressing pertinent issues in real-time via a dedicated WhatsApp group.
6. Quarterly Town Hall Meetings: Emphasizing transparency and engagement, quarterly town hall meetings with the Police High Command will be organized, with each meeting hosted by a different NBA branch, including Lagos, Ikorodu, Ikeja, Badagry, and Epe.
7. Enhanced Legal Procedures: Noteworthy adjustments have been made to streamline legal procedures, such as the revised timeline for court process submissions to the Legal Section of the State CID.
8. Call for Civility: Members are reminded of the importance of maintaining courteous interactions during visits to police formations, fostering a conducive environment for collaboration.
