Islamic New Year: Ganduje, Jibrin greet Muslims, rally support for Tinubu

Deputy Senate President, Dr. Barau Jibrin and the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, have extended his congratulations to Muslims across the nation and worldwide as they mark the commencement of the New Islamic Year of 1446, after Hijrah, on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

Jibrin and Ganduje, in a statement by issued by their aides also appealed to Nigerians to keep praying for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Jibrin, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir congratulated Muslims across the country for having the grace of God to celebrate the New Islamic Year of 1446, after Hijrah, on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

The statement reads: “As Muslims worldwide celebrate the new Islamic Year, 1446 AH, the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has congratulated fellow Muslims and other Nigerians.

” The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, had declared Sunday, July 7, 2024, as the first day of Muharram, marking the beginning of the Islamic year 1446, after Hijrah.

The Deputy President of the Senate urged Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of compassion, peace and support for one another. ”

As we celebrate the new Islamic Year, 1446 AH, let us reflect on the importance and historical significance of the Hijra and the overall teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and follow his examples.”

He reiterated the commitment of the National Assembly to continue to come up with necessary legislation to address the challenges facing the country.

Jibrin urged the citizens to continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring them that the policies being formulated by the president would address the challenges facing the country.

“ With our support at the parliament and the understanding of Nigerians, Insha Allah, the promised land is assured, where things will work for all,” he added.

In his statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Edwin Olofu, Ganduje also insisted that President Tinubu has a sincere desire and mission to fix the problems with Nigeria and make the country great again.

The APC National Chairman also fervently prayed for sustainable peace and unity in the country, adding that such atmosphere will ensure rapid national development: “This auspicious occasion, which signifies the beginning of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, is a time for reflection, renewal, and a renewed commitment to the values of faith, peace, and unity.”

Dr. Ganduje urged Muslims to use this period to pray for the continued peace, prosperity, and development of Nigeria and to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in its effort to tackle the numerous challenges of the country.

He emphasized the importance of unity and harmony among all Nigerians, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds, as essential for the progress and stability of the country.

“Let us embrace the teachings of Islam, which advocate for peace, tolerance, and compassion,” Dr. Ganduje stated. “As we step into the New Year, may we all be guided by the principles of love and understanding, and work collectively towards the betterment of our great nation,” he said.

Dr. Ganduje also commended the Muslim community for their steadfastness and contributions to the nation’s development.

He expressed optimism that the New Islamic Year would bring new opportunities and blessings for all.

The APC National Chairman concluded by wishing all Muslims a prosperous and peaceful New Year.
