The Chairperson, Exco, Chairman Planning Committee,Members and Distinguished Members of the NBA Ibadan Branch.
It is with great delight that I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes on your 2023 annual law week, which commences on the 1st of December 2023, with the profoundly inspiring theme “GIVING BACK: THE LAWYER, HIS PRACTICE & HIS SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES.”
The theme for this year’s law week and the events lined up have mainly been channelled towards emphasising and promoting the corporate social responsibility of lawyers to society. This comes in very handy in a time like this when the trust of the people in the justice system of the country is dwindling. Therefore, we as lawyers must come out and model true citizenship in representing and standing for justice in any capacity.
This year’s Law Week theme encourages us to actively contribute to society and make a positive impact. It reminds us of the many ways in which we can help others, such as providing pro-bono services for the vulnerable, advocating for Human Rights and Justice Reform, and engaging in Public Interest Litigation. We are also reminded of the importance of facilitating peaceful conflict resolution and participating in legal outreaches and community service.
I am proud to stand with you as fellow legal practitioners to identify with the branch as we achieve more milestones and make a difference in the profession and the community.
Congratulations to the Branch Executives, the Law Week Planning Committee and all the members of the Ibadan Branch for their tremendous efforts in organising this Law Week. I wish you all successful deliberations. Cheers to making more impact in society and to many more successful legal year celebrations within the branch.
With warm regards,
