Hon. Jimoh Musa Omiata, the chairman of Kogi House of Assembly Committee on Information, Strategy and Publicity is dead.
Omiata, who represented Yagba East local government area in the House of Assembly died in Lagos on Sunday evening, according to information from members of his family.
The 57-year-old lawmaker who hailed from Igbagun community in Yagba East LGA of the State was recuperating from illness when he passed on.
He was a two-time member of the State House of Assembly, and the first person to ever win re-election to the House from the State constituency.
Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya Bello has expressed shock over the death of Omiata.
He described his passage as a colossal loss to the state and the nation a condolence message was contained in a press statement issued and made available to journalists in Lokoja on Monday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed.
“Today, on behalf of the people of Kogi State, I extend my deepest condolences to the family, Kogi State House of Assembly and friends of Hon Jimoh Omiata who passed away on Sunday evening after a brief illness.
“Hon Omiata was a true patriot who dedicated his life to public service. He was a passionate advocate for the people he represented, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched. We mourn his loss and will continue to honor his memory by upholding the values he championed.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time. I pray to God Almighty to grant his soul eternal rest”, the governor said.
Bello described the deceased as a refined gentleman and an exemplary lawmaker with a great experience
