a’afar Adamu, a 36-year-old man, has been arrested for raping his neighbour’s wife at Anguwan Diocese Kala’a in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa state.
SP Suleiman Nguroje confirmed the arrest in Yola on Tuesday.
Nguroje revealed that the suspect was arrested on Sept. 15.
The suspect was said to have on same date, around noon, having noticed the victim’s husband had gone to the farm, entered into the house and thereafter forcefully had a carnal knowledge of the 21 year-old woman.
Investigation so far revealed that the suspect was wearing a black face mask and also carried a knife which he used in threatening the victim to comply with his demands.
However, his mask fell off after committing the rape. The victim recognised the assailant as he jumped out through the window.
The incident was later reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters Kala’a by the victim’s husband.
SP Nguroje added that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Afolabi Babatola, condemned the incident and directed Officer in charge of Family Support Unit to take over investigation and ensure diligent prosecution of the offender.
The Police boss sympathised with the husband of the victim over the unfortunate incident.
He equally called on the members of the public to support the Command’s efforts in fighting all forms of Gender-Based Violence.
