Dr. Bernard Colas, Senior Fellow and Partner at CMKZ Law Firm
Dr. Colas has practiced law since 1983. He has acquired a rich professional experience in Europe, America and Africa. His expertise in International Trade and Business Law rests on the following:
Practicing law in European and Canadian Law Firms and International Organizations (IFPI, OECD), Advising foreign governments, and notably acting as a trade law specialist for a CIDA project by assisting Lithuania and Algeria to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) and for World Bank projects concerned with liberalizing and privatizing telecommunications and postal services in Togo, Comoros and Mauritania, Acting President of the Law Commission of Canada which had a keen interest on law and regulatory reform, Teaching International Business Law at the University of Montreal (Law Faculty and HEC Business School – MBA Program) and International Economic Law at the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), Contributing author and managing editor of books in English and in French on International.
Economic Agreements and Organizations, writing articles in the above fields for a variety of journals, including on International Litigation, taking part actively in the activities of professional associations and organizing specialized seminars (e.g. World Trade Center Montreal, International Law Section, Canadian Bar Association).
