The NBA Ikeja Branch is a leading bar branch of legal professionals in Nigeria and is excited to announce the inaugural event of her Business Forum, scheduled for Thursday 30th May, 2024 at the Marriot Hotel, G.R.A Ikeja-Lagos at 10am.
The “NBA Ikeja Branch Business Forum” is a new initiative of the NBA Ikeja Branch designed to create a platform for corporate and commercial lawyers, including In-House Counsels, Company
Secretaries and Heads of Legal within the Ikeja environs. Speaking at a press conference, the Chairman of the NBA Ikeja Branch- Mr. Seyi Olawumi stated that ‘our goal is to facilitate continuing legal education through invaluable seminars and workshops, foster networking, and develop strategic partnerships. Members of the forum can leverage their legal expertise to provide deep insights and thought leadership in their respective fields.’
The chairperson of the Business Forum- Mrs. Ajoke Akinsola emphasised that “the theme of the inaugural event is inspired by the rapid Governance and Technological evolution sweeping the globe, particularly the transformation of businesses propelled by disruptive technology like Artificial Intelligence. Leaders are leveraging technology as a pivotal tool to stay ahead amidst this wave of change, underscoring the need to prepare adequately to avoid potential consequences.”
The theme of the event is “The Future of AI and Corporate Governance for Companies”. It will feature keynote Speakers: Desmond Oriakhogba PhD, Associate Professor University of the Western Cape & Author “The Future of AI and the Law”, and Mr. Hakeem Ogunniran, a Corporate Governance Expert & Chair Lagos Building Investment Company.
The Business Forum is designed to facilitate meaningful discussions on the governance role in the future of AI, current technological advancements in ’emerging markets and what companies should be doing to prepare for it. The event will host In-House Counsels as special guests from companies in and around the ikeja metropolis amongst other commercial law practitioners.
The secretary of the business forum – Mrs Ifeoma Ezeribe stated that “This business forum represents a unique opportunity for professionals to gain new insights, network with peers, and explore potential solutions to the challenges facing our industry today,”
