STATEMENT BY THE NBA-YLF CHAIRMAN, A. T. ABOKI, ON THE FORTHCOMING NBA-YLF SUMMIT, 2024.

Dear young lawyers,

I write to personally bring you up to speed about our forthcoming NBA-YLF NATIONAL SUMMIT, 2024, which you must have seen and read on the pages of online news reports and social media platforms. I am excited at the prospect of meeting and engaging with you during the Summit on the 17th and 18th of January 2024 in the capital city, Abuja.

From our inception as a council, we came up with the idea of holding a National Summit for ourselves, young lawyers. The idea is that, as lawyers who live for the direction of our people, we must champion discussions around transitioning from the old leadership style in governance and advocacy among other things.

Fellow Council members and I, alongside the Summit Planning Committee, have since then, put in a lot of work into seeing a smooth sailing of the Summit. We have the honour and privilege of having the NBA President, Y. C. Maikyau, SAN as our Chief Host – an honour which we most gratefully appreciate. The Summit will hold under the distinguished Chairmanship of Tein T. S. Jack-Rich, founder ofBelemaoil Producing Limited

We have lined up an array of intellectually sound speakers and guests who will talk to us and lead our discussions throughout the event. I am happy to relate to you that the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has graciously accepted to render the keynote address on the theme of the Summit; “BREAKING THE OLD ORDER OF GOVERNANCE AND ADVOCACY”. There are other distinguished figures – gentlemen and women – too numerous to mention, that will be with us as we take courage to have conversations on various aspects of youth inclusivity.

But aside the formalities of speeches and counter speeches, I commend to you the exciting gala and award session that will hold to wrap up the Summit. It is an avenue for us to unwind, network and to make new friends with whom to align to usher in a new order of governance and advocacy. We cannot afford to miss your esteem presence.

I, therefore, invite you to be with us at the Summit. Registration has been ongoing, and it has been smooth and seamless – thanks to the hardworking team of excellent young lawyers working tirelessly to put up this marvelous Summit for us. I urge you to log onto the YLF website at https://ylf.nigerianbar.org.ng/ylf/events/ to register.

As I wish you all happy end of year celebrations, I cannot wait to have the pleasure of seeing you around at the Summit.

Best regards!

Abdurrauf Tijjani Aboki
