Men of the NSCDC seized the tanker suspected to be conveying about 33,000 litres of suspected adulterated Crude Oil at Osisioma, along Port Harcourt Expressway in the South-east region of Nigeria.
The new Commandant of NSCDC in Abia State, Dr Benito Eze, confirmed the arrest of the suspect in possession of the tanker on Wednesday in Umuahia, the State’s capital.
Dr Eze stated the agency’s commitment and determination to ensuring that vandals and oil thieves were chased out of Abia State.
He also hinted that the suspect arrested with the impounded tanker would be charged to court after investigations.
In an earlier development, Imo State Command of the NSCDC arrested seven suspects alleged to be involved in illegal sales and adulteration of stolen crude oil. They also nabbed three suspects who were into vandalism and selling of armoured Nitel cables.
The suspects were paraded at the Command Headquarters in Owerri, the Imo State’s capital, by the State Commandant, Pedro Ideba, who revealed that the suspects had been in the business for over a long period of time.
