The Ogun chapter of Accord party has refuted claims that it has entered into an alliance to support the state candidate of People Democratic Party (PDP) Hon.Ladi Adebutu in the forthcoming governorship election.
Accord, in a statement issued by its Ogun state Chairman, Prince Wale Adebisi, declared that instead of Adebutu, its members will support the reelection of Governor Dapo Abiodun in the election.
It therefore denied that it was among eight parties that recently formed an alliance with PDP and its candidate for the purpose of the governorship election.
Adebisi reaffirmed that the governorship and Deputy governorship candidates of the party were Dr Omosanya Abayomi Monsuru and Alhaja Adenekan Bashirat Folashade as published and announced by INEC Chairman, Yakubu Mahmmod.
Specifically, Accord disowned one Mr Oke Oluwarotimi Michael who claimed to be its governorship candidate in the purported endorsement of Adebutu.
It also described on Tajudeen Olayokun who claimed to be its chairman in the purpoted alliance with Adebutu as an impostor.
“We enjoy the general public, especially ogun state electorate to disregard the fake news, purportedly peddled by the impersonators as their plans were to mislead, misinform and disinform eligible voters and to also soil the integrity of our party to disrepute.
“Let me however, emphasize that Accord is a peace loving and accommodating party that would not want to stain the party reputation because of economic and social gains.
“The party executive in the state and local government areas, warned the impersonators to stop dissipating their energies to defrauding Politicians with fake identities or risk legal action, while urging the PDP and its governorship candidate to always seek clarifications before granting any interview on unverified information in this global age where information can easily be verified”.
Prince Adebisi noted that the Ogun state Accord Party had pitched its tent with the incumbent governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, who by the virtue of the developmental projects and programmes he has brought to all the three Senatorial Zones of Ogun state deserve to be reelected.
