Ajimobi and OlubadanGbenro Adesina/IbadanThe suit instituted by Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Ajeogunguniso 1, against Governor Abiola Ajimobi for installing 21 new obas has been adjoured to December 13, 2017.Joined in the suit are the newly installed Ibadan obas. The presiding judge, Justice Olujumoke Aiki of the Oyo State High Court adjourned the case till December 13 for hearing notices of preliminary objections because the defendants’ counsels asked for the adjournment to be able to regularise all processes for the commencement of the case.At the resumption of the case on Monday, Yusuf Ali, SAN, lead counsel to the 1st to 3rd defendants and lead counsels to the 4th to 11th defendants, A. Eleja and lead counsel to the 12th to 24th defendants, Kunle Sobaloju informed the court that they had filed a motion for extension of time so that it could regularises all processes that needed for the commencement of the case.Though, Lead counsel to the Claimant, Niyi Ajewole did not object the motions requesting for the extension of time but he frowned at the motion because, according to him, the request for extension of time was a ploy to delay the case.It would be recalled that the defense counsel, during the last sitting, informed the court that they had filed a preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the matter because Olubadan has no ‘locus’ in challenging the elevation of the Baales to the status of Obas. They averred that the elevation of the baales and crowning of the new Ones had not in anyway affected the Olubadan status negatively.
