Today, I join my Muslim friends and colleagues in the celebration of Eid el-Fitri after spending 30 days of the holy month of Ramadan praying and beseeching God for forgiveness and mercy. Through your exercise of patience, discipline and devotion to the Almighty Allah, the world is now agog with sounds of Joy and celebrations. Even those who are less privileged or suffering one deprivation or the other are today joyous due to your acts of kindness.
As we celebrate this day in happiness and gratitude to God for His mercy and blessings upon us and our families, let’s not forget the teachings of the Holy Quran on protecting the poor, helping the helpless, and easing the pain and sufferings of orphans. It is my wish that as you do this, may Allah accept it as an act of Ibadah and may his forgiveness be upon all of us.
On this joyous day, I wish you and your family a very happy Eid-el-Fitri. May Allah open the doors of happiness and prosperity for you and all yours.
