Oshiomhole attacks Atiku, blames PDP for fuel scarcity

Adams Oshiomhole is of the opinion that Nigerians cannot trust the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

The former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also labeled Atiku a “serial betrayer.”

Speaking with Channels TV on Wednesday, Oshiomhole said Atiku is totally insensitive to project Nigeria.

The former Governor of Edo added that Atiku’s speech in Kaduna where he was quoted to have said Northerners should not vote for southerners was a clear indication that the PDP candidate is not a unifier.

Oshiomhole, a deputy director general of the Presidential Campaign Council of Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kashim Shettima, added that Atiku is the “weakest link right now among the three leading candidates” including Tinubu and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP).

He also noted Atiku lacks character and consistency having moved from the PDP to the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), back to the PDP and to the APC, and finally to the PDP.

“For Atiku, if he is not the candidate, he takes a flight to Dubai. But you are talking of someone (Tinubu) who upon leaving office, supported his wife rather than himself, talk of selfless service and gender equality.

“It speaks to character. When you have sense of belief, you cannot be jumping from one party to the other every other election.

“You (Atiku) can’t manage your household, you are a serial divorcee and you want to preach unity and family to me?”

The former governor said Atiku’s ambition is just about himself and not about Nigeria

He also said the 76-year-old Adamawa-born politician cannot be trusted as echoed by aggrieved PDP governors known as the G5 or the Integrity Group.

“PDP governors said we can’t trust him, every agreement we made with him, he broke it; he is a serial betrayer of agreements,” he added.

Speaking further on Wednesday, Oshiomhole blamed the endless fuel scarcity experienced all over the country on PDP’s inability to fix Nigeria’s refineries during its 16-year rule from 1999 to 2015.

“We must ask the question: who destroyed the refineries? What was the condition of the refineries by 1999? From 1999 to 2015, PDP was in power for 16 years. During these 16 years, if they bring out the figure, of what they claimed to have spent maintaining these refineries, you will faint.

“And a PDP president decided to privatize the refineries, that was (Olusegun) Obasanjo, towards the tail end of his tenure, another PDP president came and revised the privatization, promised six months that fuel will be available,” he said.

“So, if you have to talk about the maintenance of the refineries, you will have to trace it to the 16 years of the PDP, they couldn’t fix it,” Oshiomhole added.
