Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), Prof Fidelis Oditah (SAN) and others eminent jurists, who are alumni of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Law Faculty, would speak on stare decisis and future of legal practice in Nigeria from February 7.
The Chairman of the faculty of law alumni relations committee, Prof. Taiwo Osipitan (SAN), disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Lagos on the coming alumni reunion of the law faculty called, “The Great Homecoming.”
The event, he said, is aimed at sensitising the alumni home and abroad, providing platform for bonding among past and present students and lecturers.
He said the five days event will hold from February 7 to 12, 2022, as a hybrid function to bring alumni judges, Senior Advocates of Nigeria, private legal practitioners and those in corporate and business world together.
“The faculty is one of the first faculties when the university of Lagos was established in 1962 and it has over the years produce some of the best lawyers and legal minds in the country. This year, the university and the faculty will roll out the red carpet to celebrate the university diamond jubilee anniversary.
“Our alumni have continued to give a good account of themselves in Ivory Towers on the bench and bar, in the corporate world, politics and public service” he said.
The event, according to Osipitan, will be attended by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Justices of the apex court, Kudirat Kekere- Ekun and Bode Rhodes-Vivour (rtd); Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN); Odien Ajumogobia (SAN); Kanu Agabi (SAN); Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo and Prof. Amos Utama (SAN) and others.
Activities during the week long event includes a colloquium with Prof Fidelis Oditah (QC, SAN) as the keynote speaker, as well as lecture to the current students to be delivered by distinguished members of the alumni.
Also speaking at the conference, are the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof Omotaye Bolodeoku, the Vice Chairman, Alumni Relations Committee, Mrs Funke Agbo (SAN) and others.
