Emotional Farewell as Lagos Mourns Former NBA Ikeja Chairman, Adesina Ogunlana
Tears flowed freely in Lagos, Nigeria on Thursday 12th September 2024 as family, friends, and colleagues came together to honour the life of Adesina Ogunlana, Esq., the former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikeja Branch. Ogunlana, a beloved figure known for his bold advocacy and leadership, passed away unexpectedly on 6th August , 2024, leaving many in a rude shock.
The farewell ceremony began with Ogunlana’s remains laid in state at the NBA Ikeja Bar Centre secretariat, where lawyers, friends, family and well wishers gathered to say their final goodbyes. The atmosphere was filled with deep sorrow as those who knew him best reflected on the legacy he left behind. A solemn requiem service followed at St. Luke The Physician Anglican Church, LASUTH, before his loved ones proceeded to Mowe for him to be lowered to mother earth!
Ogunlana, who led the NBA Ikeja Branch from 2016 to 2018, touched many lives in both his professional and personal circles. His sudden passing, with no prior signs of illness, stunned the legal profession. The news of his death was officially announced on August 7, 2024, by NBA Ikeja Branch Secretary, Issa Adedokun, with the family later releasing details of the burial arrangements.
The outpouring of grief and love at the ceremony spoke to Ogunlana’s lasting impact, both as a legal advocate and as a cherished friend, father, and colleague.
