The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP over the weekend lost the Plateau North Senatorial District currently occupied by Simon Mwadkwon, the Senate Minority Leader and the Bassa North in the House of Representatives seat occupied by Musa Avia at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.
Delivering the judgment nullifying the victory of Mwadkwon, the three-member panel led by Justice Daudu Williams declared blamed the PDP for the loss over its failure to abide with with court orders to conduct fresh congresses in 12 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Plateau State.
A Plateau State High Court had in 2020 mandated the PDP to conduct a congress before making any nominations.
The Justices of the Appeal Court therefore said Senator Mwadkwon’s nomination by the PDP was not valid.
The panel consequently ordered a new election for the Plateau North Senatorial seat to be held within 90 days.
The victory of Musa Avia was nullified by an Appeal Court panel led by Justice Okon Abang.
