The Police in Akwa Ibom have confirmed the abduction of eight persons, including a Naval Rating at Ibaka, Mbo Local Government Area.
It was learnt gunmen kidnapped them on Monday night at Classic Point Hotel, Ibaka.
Their whereabouts remain unknown as of the time of filing this report
Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom Command, Timfon John, said: “When the police got the information, Commissioner of Police, CP Waheed Ayilara, led a team of security personnel to the community.
“I can assure you that with that visit by the CP and other strategic approaches normalcy will return.”
The Naval authorities in Akwa Ibom were yet to speak on the development, which is coming days after a bus driver and 18 passengers leaving Uyo to Port Harcourt, Rivers state were abducted with whereabout yet to be established.
