Joyce Oduah is the Principal Partner of Joyce & Okey Oduah LP, a solution-centered commercial and dispute resolution law firm in Lagos and Abuja. In 1990, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Lagos. She was duly called to the Nigerian Bar on the 10th of December 1991 and completed her Masters’ Degree Program at the University of Lagos in 1997.
She is currently the Vice President West Africa of the Pan African Lawyers Union (PALU) 2022 to 2025. She is the first female to hold that office in PALU since its inception; Immediate past General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the first female after 38 years; National Treasurer, NBA, 2012 -2014; a member of the Federation of International Women Lawyer (FIDA); a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators; an Associate Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a Notary Public.
She was a Council Member of the International Bar Association 2020 to 2022 and a Member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association. As the General Secretary of the NBA, she was an active member of all existing Committees of the Association. She has under her belt several National and State Appointments, including Board Member, Gurara Water Management Authority 2009; Member, Law Reform and Administration of Justice Reform Committee, Akwa Ibom State 2007 to 2009; Member, Lagos State Blueprint Committee on the Administration of Justice 2017; Board Member Institute of Continuing Legal Education 2020 to 2022; Board member and Director, Legal Aid Council of Nigeria 2020 to 2022.
She is the President and Founder of Fountain of Life for the Needy Foundation. This non-governmental organisation provides for the needs of disadvantaged women, children and youths in Nigeria. She has received numerous awards for her commitment and dedication to the service of God, the Bar and humanity.
Joyce is passionate about ensuring women and young lawyers participation in leadership in the International and National Bar Associations, the Judiciary, corporate practice, and the larger society. She believes that young lawyers are the future of the legal profession; this is why she is committed to ensuring their growth and development as practitioners and individuals.
Joyce is married to her law school sweetheart, Mr. Okey Oduah. She is blessed with four children; two are legal practitioners, one is a graduate of law awaiting law school and the other a final year law student.
