The NBA President Y. C. Maikyau OON, SAN in company of the National Assistant Publicity Secretary, Charles Ajiboye, Vice Chairman Lagos Branch, Mrs. Abiye Tam-George, Chairman Eti-Osa Lawyers Forum, MMA Sanni, Mr.Salau Nasir, Secretary of Epe Branch, Aare Dotun Hassan and other senior members of the bar paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Gafaru Buraimoh who was gruesomely murdered by a police officer in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
The president commiserated with the family and promised that the killer of Gafaru Buraimoh would be made to face the wrath of the law.
The President particularly apologized to the family of Gafaru Buraimoh on behalf of Nigeria and the legal profession. He noted that we are where we are as a nation because the legal profession which is originally gratuitous has abdicated her primary duties of ensuring justice and fairness in pursuit of monetary gains. He questioned the benefits of money if the society is unsafe to enjoy it? He noted that every life is sacred and sacrosanct and that the life of Gafaru Buraimoh was as important to the NBA as the life of Bolanle Raheem,Esq. He then promised that the NBA under his administration would rise up to the challenge of preserving the rule of law in Nigeria without any sort of discrimination.
The father of the late Gafaru Buraimoh while responding on behalf of the family expressed his gratitude to the NBA for providing responsible leadership and for associating with them at this critical moment.
