Senator Solomon Adeola, the chairman of Senate Committee on Finance has debunked a story circulating on the social media that President-Elect , Bola Tinubu is against the re-election of Prince Dapo Abiodun as governor of Ogun state.
Adeola, who is also the senator-elect for Ogun West Senatorial district said contrary to the false claim, Tinubu is fully behind Prince Abiodun and all candidates of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 18 March governorship and House of Assembly election.
Adeola spoke at a stakeholders’ engagement campaign for Governor Abiodun in Ogun West senatorial district held at Ijamido Hall, Ota shortly after his arrival from Abuja where he collected his Certificate of Return as a member of the incoming 10th Senate of the National Assembly.
“I arrived from Abuja and came straight to this meeting to present to you my certificate of return for my overwhelming victory through your votes and Almighty God.
“It is an unprecedented victory with winning votes that doubled that of the last election in 2019 and the feat of legitimately moving from Lagos West to my home base, Ogun West. I am grateful for your support and enthusiasm for me to represent you. I will not take your support for granted,” Senator Adeola stated.
The chairman of Senate Committee on Finance however stated that his victory and that of the President -Elect will not be complete until the re-election of Prince Abiodun and all candidates in the House of Assembly election.
He described claims that Tinubu is against Prince Abiodun’s re-election in favour of another party’s candidate from Ogun West as the machination of desperate politicians who already foresaw their crushing defeat at the Governorship and House of Assembly election.
“Let me assure you that our party, the APC and the President-Elect, Senator Bola Tinubu are fully committed to ensuring that all the party’s governorship and Assembly candidates are returned elected without exception. The President Elect is not known for despicable anti-party activities that is associated with one Ogun APC member who is now the campaign manager and sponsor of ADC governorship candidate in Ogun State,” Senator Adeola stated.
He said Ogun State stand to reap the full benefits of dividends of democracy with the re-election of Governor Abiodun and all APC House of Assembly members under a Tinubu presidency.
He further noted that Ogun Senators-Elect and House of Representatives members-elect are all members of APC.
The Senator further warned that the people of the state should not embark on political gamble based personal interest and ego for a fringe political party without a president, a governor, a senator or House of Representative member at the moment.
The Senator stated that he has started implementing the campaign promises he made with the distribution of 27 transformers to communities in Ogun West and other programmes.
He added that voting APC from top to bottom in the coming governorship and House of Assembly election as was done in the Presidential and National Assembly election is the best thing for the collective development of Ogun State.
The meeting tagged “Dapo Lekansi: Yayi Engagement for Dapo Abiodun” had over 4000 stakeholders from Ogun West comprising Market Women and Men associations, NATA members, Baales (traditional rulers/community leaders), members of CDAs and CDCs, artisan groups, Christian and Muslim clerics and youth organisations in attendance.
