President Bola Tinubu has mourned as 17 people died in a lone trailer accident in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State, North Central Nigeria.
The Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bisi Kazeem had confirmed the accident in a statement issued in Abuja.
Kazeem disclosed that the accident involved 29 people, consisting of 20 male adults, 4 female adults, and 5 male children.
He said the injured victims had been evacuated and taken to Kontagora General Hospital for immediate medical attention, pointing out that the deceased were deposited at the mortuary section of the same hospital.
Reacting to the fatal accident, Tinubu commiserated with the people and government of Niger State over a ghastly auto-crash, which led to the loss of many lives.
President Tinubu, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, condoled with the families of those who lost their lives in the accident and prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
The President described the incident as a harrowing tragedy and directs the agency responsible for emergency response to immediately move in and ensure that those injured in the tragic accident get the necessary treatment at the highest quality and with alacrity.
