The police in Lagos Thursday foiled attempt by suspected militants to invade a community in Igando.
Although the hoodlums allegedly shot two residence, police operatives attached to Igando Division intervened and arrested two suspects, recovering ammunitions.
It was gathered that the hoodlums stormed the community from the creeks and opened fire in the area.
The gunshots were said to have alerted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) who led his men to confront the militants.
Upon sighting the police, the hoodlums were said to have fled but two of their members were not so lucky.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police (SP) said the injured were being treated at an undisclosed hospital.
“Presently, the command has deployed adequate security personnel and equipment to the area to forestall reoccurrence. We are working on the clue we have so far to unravel the case.
“The command is also imploring members of the public to promptly alert the police of any strange movement or occurrence within their community,” said Badmos.
