Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, said he regretted his absence at the Nollywood Actors Summit on Monday but it was inevitable.
The former governor of Anambra, in a statement on Tuesday, noted that his absence was due to scheduling difficulties.
The statement reads: “Congratulations on the success of your summit on the 21st of November, 2022. I regret my inevitable absence yesterday at this noble summit due to scheduling difficulties. Nollywood, an indigenous but global brand, is dear to my heart and remains so.
Nollywood and its allied value chain are of strategic importance to the growth of the Nigerian economy. Hence, I committed and will continue to advocate for robust engagement between the FGN, the organized private sector and other stakeholders in the entertainment industry in supporting the consolidation and expansion of Nollywood.
From my vantage position, I am able to discern within the Obidient Movement, distinguished Nollywood greats, both males and females, and this serves as a reminder to me that Nollywood is fully engaged in supporting our movement for the rebirth of Nigeria.
I wish you a very successful outing in the remainder of the days of the summit as I pray God’s guidance for a perfect outcome.”
