Multi-award-winning music star Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has announced that he is donating the sum of “N100 million to kids” for Christmas.
In a series of Instagram posts on Monday, the Surulere-born artiste said the move was in honor of his late mother Jane Balogun.
The ‘Essence’ hitmaker also disclosed that he will kick off the distributions of the funds to children on Monday night, starting from Surulere.
“100M for the kids for Christmas! Lord bless us all start in Surulere tonight! All in Morayo’s name! The love of my life! ️,” the singer wrote.
Wizkid lost his mother in August 2023 and she was buried the following month.
Born on July 14, 1957, Jane is survived by her husband,, Muniru Olatunji Balogun, and four children.
Her children are Yetunde Balogun, Omolara Osunkoya, Olubusayo Balogun, and Ayodeji ‘Wizkid’ Balogun.
Born in Surulere on July 16, 1990, Wizkid grew up in a polygamous home with a Muslim father and a Christian mother.
Last month, the multiple award-winning singer hinted that he is on a five-year hiatus from music.
The Afrobeats star stated that he would be taking four or five years off the music scene.
He added that he is considering taking up football or golf.
Writing in broken English, he wrote, “Back in 4 years, make una papa chop him money small or maybe five or I fit still go dey play ball now.
“Or make I start dey play golf. fifa or wrestling b*tch!”All of una dey craze! Everybody dey mad.
“On some G shit, I hope you mofuckas alright body mind and soul and taking time out to enjoy with your loved ones.”
